In this special episode, Suzanne Spradley and Chase Cannon discuss the COBRA subsidies that are a big part of the recently-enacted ARPA. Suzanne starts the discussion with a history of past COBRA subsidies, including in 2002 and 2008/09, comparing them to the ARPA subsidies. Suzanne then answers Chase’s rapid fire questions on the ARPA COBRA subsidies, including the amount and duration, who is eligible, employer involvement, notice requirements, and interactions with COBRA administrators and vendors.

MetLife Completes Sale of MetLife Auto & Home Business to Farmers Insurance Group

In early April, MetLife officially completed its sale of the MetLife Auto & Home business to Farmers Insurance Group. While MetLife will continue to offer auto and home personal lines products, they will now carry the Farmers brand. MetLife and Farmers are working together to ensure there is no disruption to your clients’ business.

No action is needed on your clients’ part or their employees. MetLife account teams will continue to be their main point of contact and any billing and eligibility files will continue unchanged. Coverage for all policyholders will continue without interruption.

Since Farmers purchased the entities that write the MetLife Auto and Home business, which includes all rate and discount filings, there will be no immediate changes. Once approved by regulators, policies written by a company including the word “Metropolitan” will be changed to reflect Farmers ownership.
